On the photoblog nachtwezens - Dutch for 'night creatures' - you can find photos and video clips that were shot at night. The author of the blog, Sam, says he created this blog so he could gather all his ideas in one spot. When he bought a Nokia 9303 Classic phone four years ago and started taking pictures with it, he noticed that the pictures were not of a ‘good’ quality but that this resulted in a weird glow. For Sam, this weird glow gave a strong mood to the picture. He started mainly with photographing insects at night, and after a friend suggested that he should start a blog, he named it nachtwezens. Sam concentrates his work on street objects and/or art that he finds in Leuven, while he is wandering around in the city at night. That’s another reason why his blog is called nachtwezens, because most of the subjects he photographs are in a dark ethos. But for him, the street art in some of his photos is rather a part of the whole concept than the main purpose of his blog. Sam is more interested in the mood of a surrounding and therefore urban art can help, because for him urban art can influence an image enormously. For Sam, his blog created a way to help him look at the world in a more sober perspective. http://nachtwezens.tumblr.com/tagged/leuven If from one hand there is the Banksy that everybody knows - the provocative street art genius - there is also a side of the artist that only a few people heard about: the plagiarist and violent one. And this other side is shown in the documentary that you can see embed below: "Robbo vs. Banksy: Graffiti Wars". The movie tells us the history of a conflict that has started in 2009 when Banksy broke one of the most important rules of the graffiti world: never modify other artist's artwork, incorporating as your own. It is over this background that the documentary develops: Robbo had decided to retire but he saw yourself obligated to come back to the streets in order to cover Banksy's art. Some other artists that also became dissatisfied and started to cover Banksy's art everywhere signing "Team Robbo". The documentary goes till 2011 when Robbo has an accident and gets in coma, situation that he probably is still in now. Graffiti Wars is an amazing panorama of the real world of Urban Art. Voilá!
